Ankeet Chavan, considered one of three Rajasthan Royals gamers who have been banned for all times for spot-fixing in 2013, can now resume aggressive cricket. The Indian Cricket Board has lowered the ban of the 35-year-old Mumbai left-arm spinner to seven years.

Chavan has written a letter to the Mumbai Cricket Association searching for permission to renew native cricket.

“I want to play cricket again, I want to get back on the field and start playing. I still feel that I have the potential to make a comeback. Being a spinning all-rounder, I have kept myself fit. It was a very, very difficult time for me. This was the toughest period of my life. My house is near Shivaji Park and still I could not play. Imagine such a situation for a cricketer. I am really curious and excited and looking forward to playing again,” he informed The Indian Express.

The BCCI had emailed Chavan concerning the discount in his life ban.

“The Scholars Ombudsman has banned you from life ban up to 7 years with effect from 13th September 2013. In view of the order dated 3rd May 2021, the ban imposed on you has expired on 13th September, 2020,” the BCCI mentioned. Interim CEO Hemang Amin wrote.

In 2013, the BCCI’s disciplinary committee discovered S Sreesanth, Chavan and Ajit Chandila responsible of spot-fixing within the IPL and banned them for all times. However, in 2015, a trial court docket in Delhi dropped all prices in opposition to these gamers for lack of proof. The BCCI, nevertheless, continued to impose a life ban.
