Retired Brazilian soccer star Pele has been moved out of intensive care as he recovers from surgical procedure to take away a tumor from his colon.

Edson Arantes do Nascimento, 80, was in good medical situation and can stay in Albert Einstein Hospital “in his room from now on while he recovers,” the Sao Paulo facility stated in a press release on Tuesday.

Pele stated he was able to play “90 minutes more extra time” after leaving intensive care. “Don’t think for a minute that I haven’t read thousands of loving messages here,” Pele wrote with a smile within the accompanying photograph on Instagram.
