Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh on Monday expressed shock over the Centre’s determination to supply “Y-plus” safety to Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut, who he mentioned, had “insulted” Mumbai and Maharashtra.
Ms Ranaut has been given Y-plus class safety by Central businesses and he or she will probably be protected by about 10 armed commandos around the clock, Union Home ministry officers mentioned in New Delhi.
The determination comes two days earlier than Ms Ranaut, who’s in her house state Himachal Pradesh, mentioned she plans to go to Mumbai on September 9.
Speaking to reporters right here, Ms Deshmukh mentioned, “The Centre’s move to provide security to people who insult Mumbai and Maharashtra is surprising and also sad.
“This state belongs to all individuals, together with the BJP. Kangana Ranaut feedback must be condemned by all.”
Ms Ranaut is in the eye of the storm over her recent remarks on Mumbai and its police.
“Why is Mumbai feeling like Pakistan-occupied- Kashmir?” Ms Ranaut had tweeted, inviting criticism from various quarters.
She would require security from Haryana or Himachal Pradesh police and would not accept protection from the Mumbai police to expose an alleged “drug mafia in Bollywood”, the award-winning actor had mentioned.
