Cyclone Yas fashioned over the Bay of Bengal to cross the Odisha-West Bengal coast on Wednesday afternoon.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) introduced that Cyclone Yas (learn as Yas) has developed into the east-central area of the Bay of Bengal on Monday morning.

Named by Oman, Yas is the primary cyclonic storm to develop over the Bay of Bengal in 2021. It is predicted to accentuate and attain a ‘very extreme’ cyclone vary or greater through the coming 36 to 48 hours. Yes means a tree with aromatic flowers.

According to the Meteorological Department’s cyclone monitor, the storm will cross northern Odisha and its adjoining West Bengal coast between Paradip and Sagar islands someday on Wednesday afternoon.

The newest cyclone forecast launched by IMD acknowledged, “Cyclone Yas will gradually move north-northwest and reach northern Odisha and North Bay of Bengal to reach north Odisha and West Bengal coast by the morning of 26 May.”

At 5.30 am on Monday, Cyclone Yas was situated 600 km north-northwest of Port Blair, 540 km south-southeast of Paradip and 650 km south-southeast of Balasore.

The districts of North Odisha together with Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara and Mayurbhanj will obtain reasonable to heavy rains on Tuesday and the depth of rains will attain very heavy class on Wednesday.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall has been warned on Tuesday and Wednesday in Mednipur, North and South 24 Parganas, Howrah and Hooghly districts of West Bengal.
