Deputy Janine Ozanne is to resign from the Education, Sports and Culture Committee (ESC).
The Guernsey politician stated in an e-mail to States members that she was stepping down “for personal reasons”.
She will stay vice-chair of the Employment and Social Security Committee and a member of the Transport Licensing Authority.
Deputy Hayley Camp has expressed curiosity within the emptiness, with an election anticipated to be held on 26 November.
If Camp is elected, he must resign from the Education Devolution and Delegation Scrutiny and Advisory Committee.
After saying his intention to resign from the ESC, Ozanne stated that he had “had a very difficult few months”.
She added: “I also want to use the time to look at new ways of how I can really help Islanders who are struggling with the cost of living crisis, and I'm looking forward to working on committees to look at potential requests so we can really deliver for the Islanders who are suffering.”
Ozanne praised Leadership of ESC President Paul Montague and stated that working along with his colleagues on the committee had been “a real privilege and pleasure”.
Any potential alternative for Ozanne on the ESC would require a proposer and a seconder and, if an election have been held, he would face questions from his colleagues concerning the ESC's mandate.
