Imtiaz Ali on being advised girls in his movies haven’t got company: ‘Not each story may be a couple of girl discovering the company’

Filmmaker Imtiaz Ali, who has directed movies akin to Socha Na Tha, Jab We Met, Love Aaj Kal, and Highway, amongst others, feels he can not repeatedly inform tales about girls discovering their company. The movie director is usually quizzed about how he writes the feminine characters in his films.

While speaking to Vice in a brand new interview, Imtiaz stated that he feels “fascinated by women for having been in a role which is more repressed and disadvantaged than men, and yet having that smile and grace on their faces.” He added that girls are “smarter than men” in each measure.

Citing the instance of his movie Highway, starring Alia Bhatt, and his internet sequence She, he stated that each tales are about “women finding their agency.” But Imtiaz prompt, “Not each story may be a couple of girl discovering the company. Why am I not allowed to combine tales of various nature or they imply one thing else? I’m right here to not truly inform folks the right way to reside their lives.”

Imtiaz wrote Cocktail, starring Deepika Padukone and Diana Penty, which was directed by Homi Adajania. Ranbir Kapoor, who collaborated with Imtiaz in Rockstar and Tamasha, had stated in 2011, “He’s properly learn. He understands the complexities and dynamics of relationships. He understands a girl very properly, in a really appropriate and real looking manner.”
