“It's his first year – we'll see how it works, we'll see how it works in the second year and if we want to make changes, we can.”
In addition to JCCT's support, parents can be helped by their parish and other organizations, Ward said.
He mentioned: “There's a safety net there for people, but it also gives us the benefit of being able to identify families and say, 'If you need help, come and get it'.
“It is very important for us to support you and, most importantly, to prepare your children for the long term schooling and the future.
“We've got that money in the government scheme, now we need to start spending it in the right areas and directly supporting our families and children – this is the future of our island, so let's spend that money well.”
