Former footballer Joey Barton has been discovered responsible of six counts of sending “highly offensive” social media posts directed at broadcaster Jeremy Vine and TV soccer pundits Lucy Ward and Annie Aluko.
Barton, 43, in contrast Aluko and Ward to serial killer pair Fred and Rose West and referred to as Vine a “bike nonce” in posts despatched between January and March 2024.
A jury at Liverpool Crown Court acquitted former Manchester City, Everton and Newcastle midfielder Barton of six additional counts of sending extremely offensive digital communications with intent to trigger misery or nervousness.
