Odisha government has started scholarship in the name of “Vyasakabi Fakir Mohan Senapati Scholarship” to promote Odia language by way of encouraging meritorious students to pursue higher studies in Odia language. Keeping in view the interest shown by the students vis-a-vis the number of scholarships offered, the following guidelines are issued to encourage students to pursue higher studies in Oriya language.
Criteria for Bhasa Bruti Scholarship for Promotion of Oriya Language
- The revised guidelines will be applicable from the academic session 2019-2020.
- It is a one-time scholarship of Rs. 20.000/- per student only.
- Passed 12th class examination with 60% or more marks in aggregate as conducted by CHSE, Odisha and with Odia as an Honors subject (1st year) in Degree Colleges/ Autonomous Colleges/ State Universities of Odisha or other States There will be 3 students studying in Arts. Eligible to apply for this Bhasbruti.
- Having passed +3 in Odia (Hons) Examination with 60% or more marks in Odia Honors subject conducted by State Universities/Autonomous Colleges of Odisha and Post-Odia in Odia in any State Universities/Degree Colleges/Autonomous Colleges Students studying Graduation Odisha or other state will also be eligible to apply for this Bhasbruti.
- The number of scholarships for +3 Arts with Odia Honors and MA (Odia) courses will be decided by the Govt.
- Students will be selected on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying examination. In other words. Students studying +3 Arts having Odia as an Honors subject will be selected on the basis of their overall marks in +2 examination conducted by CHSE, Odisha. Similarly, students pursuing MA (Odia) will be selected on the basis of marks obtained in Odia Honors in +3 Arts Final Examination.
- Students pursuing their higher education through distance education/correspondence courses are not eligible for such scholarship

Under the e-Medhabruti scheme, the government provides financial assistance to the meritorious students of Odisha whose parents’ income does not exceed Rs.6 lakh per annum. The government has made a provision of 6000 scholarships for undergraduate (UG) students and 2500 for postgraduate (PG) students. For students pursuing technical and vocational courses, the number is 6000. UG students will get Rs 5000 per year, while students pursuing PG, technical and vocational courses will get Rs 10,000 per year.
A student will be eligible for the scholarship for the total duration of the course. In technical and professional qualification categories, only UG professional degree courses and integrated courses are eligible under this head.
