A 70-year-old man has died after a light-weight airplane crashed at an airfield close to Sherburn in Elmet.
North Yorkshire Police mentioned emergency providers had been referred to as to Sherburn Aero Club simply earlier than 13:00 GMT.
The small aircraft crashed on the runway and the pilot, who was from the Leeds space, was pronounced lifeless on the scene.
He was believed to be flying alone, the drive mentioned.
Officials had been monitoring the scene and the Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) was knowledgeable.
A spokesperson for the Sherburn Aero Club confirmed that the airfield had been closed.
The AAIB mentioned it was “in the process of deploying a team to begin investigation”.
