“About 200 cars” parked in a part of the Peak District have averted the mess.

Derbyshire County Council stated on Saturday morning that crews had been unable to get there because of double parking at Rushup Edge and Main Nick close to Edale.

The Highway Authority requested drivers to not “add to the problems on these roads”.

An announcement stated: “We realize that people want to enjoy the Peak District but this level of parking is making the job of gritters much harder.”

Freezing temperatures coupled with snowfall have left roads round North Derbyshire disrupted all through the week.

Roads at present closed in Derbyshire embody Goyts Lane close to Buxton, Rylah Hill in Palterton, Back Lane in Ulgrave and Curber Lane, Curber.
