Police have launched an investigation following the demise of a serving prisoner at HMP Wakefield.

West Yorkshire Police stated officers have been known as to the high-security jail at 08:25 GMT on Wednesday following reviews of a person discovered useless in his cell.

The drive has not but disclosed the circumstances of his demise and described its investigation as being at an “early stage”.

The id of the person has not been revealed.

The incident comes lower than a month after the demise of pedophile singer Ian Watkins fatally stabbed In the identical jail on 11 October.
