External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Saturday held talks with Sri Lanka’s Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa and mentioned initiatives and funding plans by India that can enhance the island nation’s economic system.
During the “detailed” digital assembly, Jaishankar additionally raised the difficulty of Indian fishermen in Sri Lankan custody and urged their early launch as a humanitarian gesture.

“We noted positively the expansion of the swap facility of USD 400 million and the deferred ACU settlement of USD 515.2 million. Early access to a credit facility of USD 1 billion for essential commodities and USD 500 million for fuel purchases discussed,” stated the External Affairs Minister.
Jaishankar stated he assured that India would take the initiative together with different worldwide companions to help Sri Lanka at this important juncture.
“Welcomed progress on Trincomalee Tank Farm that will contribute to energy security,” he stated in one other tweet.
“Projects and investment plans to strengthen Sri Lanka’s economy were considered by India,” Jaishankar stated.
He urged for the early launch of Indian fishermen in Sri Lankan custody as a humanitarian initiative.
