Soho: Groucho Club closes after allegations of 'severe crime'

One of London's most well-known personal members' golf equipment, The Groucho Club, has closed after claims a “serious crime” had taken place on the premises.

Westminster City Council stated it had suspended the license of the Soho venue following a request from the Metropolitan Police.

The personal members membership is known to have co-operated with the council's licensing sub-committee, acknowledged the seriousness of the allegations and accepted the choice.

A full listening to concerning the license can be held inside 28 days of the police submitting the assessment utility.

A council spokesperson stated: “This decision has been taken following reports that a serious crime may have occurred at the premises under circumstances involving a breach of licensing conditions at the premises.

“The allegations are the subject of an ongoing police investigation and we cannot comment further at this stage.”

The Met stated its investigation remains to be ongoing, that means the small print it may possibly present are restricted.

It added that additional particulars can be launched “when possible”.
