The show's first blind contestant, comedian Chris McCausland, performed a foxtrot to Be Young, Be Foolish, Be Happy by The Tams with his partner Dianne Buswell, which was well received.

Chief judge Shirley Ballas gave him a standing ovation and called him “an instance for each high movie star by way of footwork.”

DIY SOS star Nick Knowles also managed what Ballas called an “completely superb” performance, despite only having 16 hours of rehearsal time after suffering an injury earlier this week.

But it was Love Island star Tasha Gowrie who topped the leaderboard.

She and dance partner Aljaz Skorzenek received a first score of nine in the latest series for Viennese Waltz to Misty Blue by Dorothy Moore.

Host Claudia Winkleman later revealed that Gauri's father in the audience was brought to tears while watching her performance.

Other highlights included JLS star JB Gill and his partner Amy Dowden's Cha Cha, which earned them a score of 27, and opera singer Wynne Evans and partner Katya Jones' Viennese Waltz.

Wilcox and Jones remain at the bottom of the leaderboard for the second consecutive week.

The Saturday Night Live show on BBC One was watched by over six million people.
