Surat: Man thrashed to loss of life by petrol pump staff

A 34-year-old man was allegedly thrashed to loss of life by the workers of a petroleum pump in Surat on Thursday evening.

The deceased has been recognized as Ravindra Sangada, a resident of Rudrapura in Surat.

According to the police, Ravindra had gone to the Sarvodaya petrol pump in Soso circle to fill petrol in his bike at round 9.30 pm on Thursday evening. He was accompanied by his good friend Nikhil Prajapati.

A banner was hung on the petrol pump which claimed to present a free water bottle whereas filling petrol for Rs 500. On filling petrol for Rs 500, Ravindra demanded a water bottle, on which the petrol pump workers claimed that it was out of inventory.

This led to a heated trade of arguments, police mentioned, including that each Ravindra and his good friend have been in an inebriated state. The argument turned violent and the petrol pump workers allegedly assaulted Ravindra.

The cellular van of Khatodar police reached there and took Ravindra and Nikhil to Khatodara police station. The police knowledgeable about this to Ravindra’s brother Hitendra, who reached the police station.

Later Ravindra fell unconscious and was instantly rushed to the New Civil Hospital, the place he was declared introduced useless after first help.

Hitendra lodged a criticism in opposition to the workers of Sarvodaya Petrol Pump with the Khatodara police within the early hours of Friday.

“There was a fight between Ravindra and the petrol pump staff which later turned violent and he was thrashed by the employees. We have got CCTV footage from the petrol pump and it seems that four men had assaulted Ravindra. We will arrest the accused soon,” Khatodara police inspector TV Patel mentioned, including {that a} case was additionally registered in opposition to Nikhil underneath the Prohibition Act.
