More than 80 Warm Welcome places have opened throughout Surrey, permitting individuals to take pleasure in a free sizzling drink and socialize with others through the colder months.

Community centres, church halls and most of Surrey's libraries are among the many venues getting used for the Surrey County Council (SCC) initiative, now in its fourth 12 months.

Residents can entry these areas, which purpose to assist these affected by value of dwelling pressures, between Saturday and the tip of March.

Councilor Mark Nutty, cupboard member for well being, wellbeing and public well being, stated the purpose was to “make sure no one has to sit alone in a cold house”.

He stated: “We know how important warmth and companionship is for people’s health and wellbeing, and these places not only provide this but also provide further help and advice if needed.

“Both young and old are welcome. So, if you need a place to escape the cold, come along to any of the warmest welcomes – enjoy a free hot drink, friendly company or support, we would invite anyone to take up this offer.”

More than 65,000 Surrey residents visited Warm Welcome between November 2024 and March this 12 months.
