The BBC despatched freedom of knowledge requests to 45 UK police forces. Out of 31 comparable responses obtained, 9,581 offenses of bike theft had been recorded. Police recorded the ages of just one,812 suspects. Of these, 965, or 53%, had been underneath the age of 18.
