World Health Organization approval for Covaxin, an indigenous COVID-19 vaccine developed by Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech, is prone to come this month, official sources stated on Monday.
WHO has thus far accredited COVID vaccines for emergency use developed by Pfizer-BioNtech, US pharma main Johnson & Johnson, Moderna, Sinopharm of China and Oxford-AstraZeneca.
Covaxin is considered one of six vaccines which have obtained emergency use authorization from India’s drug regulator and are being utilized in a nationwide immunization program, together with Covisheeld and Sputnik V.
“WHO approval for Covaxin is expected this month,” an official supply stated.
The Center had instructed the Rajya Sabha in July that every one paperwork required for the WHO’s Emergency Use List (EUL) have been submitted by Bharat Biotech by July 9, and the worldwide well being physique has begun the assessment course of.
