The Ministry of External Affairs on Thursday mentioned 32 Indians stranded in Myanmar’s Myawadi space after falling sufferer to a world job-promising racket in Thailand have been rescued and efforts are on to assist others.

The Mywadi area in Kayin State, southeastern Myanmar, bordering Thailand, will not be solely underneath the Myanmar authorities’s management and is managed by some ethnic armed teams.

When requested about Indians stranded there, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Arindam Bagchi mentioned, “Some fraudulent IT firms look like indulging in digital scamming and faux crypto actions. They are working via brokers in Dubai, Bangkok and India, and are recruiting Indian staff on the pretext of job alternatives within the IT sector in Thailand. He mentioned staff are lured by social media adverts for extremely profitable information entry jobs in Thailand.

“Unfortunately, these workers are illegally transported across the border to the Mywadi region of Myanmar and access to that area is difficult due to the local security situation,” he mentioned.

Still, due to the efforts of Indian missions in Myanmar and Thailand, a few of these victims have been saved from captivity or compelled labor, Bagchi mentioned, and efforts are being made to assist others.

He mentioned that out of 80-90 Indians trapped in Mayavaddi, 32 folks have been rescued to date.

“We would like to urge Indian citizens to exercise utmost caution before offering such jobs,” he mentioned.
“Our embassies in Thailand and Myanmar have issued advisories in this regard, please follow them,” he mentioned, including that India has additionally taken up the matter with the governments of Myanmar and Thailand.
