5 Navy personnel lacking after Uttarakhand avalanche

Five members of a Navy expedition staff went lacking on Friday after being caught in an avalanche close to the summit of Trishul mountain in Uttarakhand.

Of the ten-man squad, 5 have been protected. The military, air drive and state catastrophe response forces have been conducting search operations for the opposite half of the staff.

The Navy mentioned in a press release: “Search and rescue operations for five members of the Indian Navy’s mountaineering expedition to Mount Trishul, caught in an avalanche near Shikhar Camp, are being carried forward by Army and SDRF ground rescue teams and helicopters. Used to be”.

It mentioned the 20-member operation was flagged off from Mumbai on September 3. Ten climbers began reaching the summit within the final leg this morning, however have been hit by an avalanche on the summit. “…5 out of 10 climbers are safe,” the Navy mentioned.

Chamoli District Magistrate Himanshu Khurana mentioned the district administration is alert and able to present help.

The Navy can also be coordinating with consultants from the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering. The operation was halted after sundown, and can resume on Saturday morning.
