5G scare: Air India cancels 14 US flights; DGCA working to regulate the scenario

Air India canceled 14 flights on India-US routes from Wednesday as a result of deployment of 5G web in North America, which might intervene with the plane’s navigation system.

Meanwhile, DGCA chief Arun Kumar informed PTI that the Indian aviation regulator is working in shut coordination with our airways to tide over the scenario arising out of deployment of 5G web within the US.

The altimeter measures the altitude of the plane above the bottom. The band on which the altimeter operates is near the band on which 5G programs function.

A complete of three carriers – American Airlines, Delta Airlines and Air India – presently function direct flights between India and the US.

American Airlines and Delta Airlines didn’t reply to PTI’s queries on the matter.

Air India canceled eight flights and 6 flights operated on Wednesday and Thursday respectively.

It stated on Twitter that it could not function eight India-US flights on Wednesday “due to the deployment of 5G communications in the US”.

These eight Air India flights had been: Delhi-New York, New York-Delhi, Delhi-Chicago, Chicago-Delhi, Delhi-San Francisco, San Francisco-Delhi, Delhi-Newark and Newark-Delhi.

Later through the day, Air India officers stated {that a} complete of six Indo-US flights that had been to be operated on Thursday have additionally been cancelled.
