Around 20 Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) activists had been arrested on Tuesday after protesting in opposition to the administration of MIT World Peace University, demanding refund of worldwide research tour charges to college students.

Student activists mentioned they’ve been receiving repeated complaints from college students of MIT WPU that the administration has refused to refund the charges collected for worldwide research excursions, which haven’t been performed. The college students declare that out of the full charges, Rs 50,000 has been earmarked for a global research tour that was not performed throughout their four-year course and the college ought to now refund Rs 2 lakh to every pupil.

This isn’t the primary time that the ABVP has protested over the problem. The group had taken up the problem two years in the past and the college administration had promised to arrange worldwide research journeys for the scholars in the course of the third or fourth 12 months. However, as a result of COVID-19 restrictions, worldwide research journeys couldn’t be performed final 12 months. Student activists alleged that the college has refused to refund the charges regardless of repeated requests from dad and mom and college students.

Meanwhile, the MIT WPU administration issued a press assertion on the problem.

“The difficulty was resolved with the ultimate 12 months B-Tech college students and it’s being raised unnecessarily… no pupil participated within the protest. We gave college students three choices, to go on a global research tour within the subsequent three years, or to take a web-based course at a good international college and get a refund if not one of the choices are acceptable. Prasad Khandekar, dean of engineering and know-how at MIT World Peace University, mentioned on May 31 and June 1, there have been conferences with dad and mom and college students who stuffed out the choice kinds and the matter was settled 20 days in the past.
