Air India’s determination will support aviation sector: PM on inauguration of Kushinagar airport

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday inaugurated the Kushinagar International Airport in Uttar Pradesh. The airport was constructed to attach Buddhist pilgrimage websites all over the world in addition to to facilitate journey for pilgrims to the ultimate resting place of Lord Buddha.

The Prime Minister lauded the latest Air India-Tata deal, calling it a “huge step” for India’s aviation sector. “A major step was taken recently related to Air India in order to professionally run the aviation sector of the country and to give priority to facilities and safety. This move will give new energy to India’s aviation sector,” he was quoted as saying by ANI.

Inaugurating the brand new airport, PM Modi mentioned it could “benefit everyone”, from farmers, cattle ranchers and shopkeepers to staff and native industrialists. “It will create an ecosystem of enterprise. Tourism will profit probably the most, it is going to generate employment for the youth right here.

“Efforts will be made to build a network of more than 200 airports, heliports and water domes in the country in the next 3-4 years,” the Prime Minister mentioned.

Kushinagar in Uttar Pradesh is the ultimate resting place of Gautam Buddha the place he attained Mahaparinirvana after his demise, and is without doubt one of the most essential pilgrimage websites for Buddhists.

SpiceJet will quickly begin working direct flights between Delhi and Kushinagar.

“This (Kushinagar International Airport) is a great gesture from PM Modi and especially to invite Sri Lankan Airlines to be the first international carrier to land at Kushinagar International Airport,” Sri Lankan Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa advised PTI.

The airport has been constructed at an estimated price of Rs 260 crore and the brand new terminal constructing is unfold over 3,600 sq. metres. It has been developed by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) in collaboration with the Government of Uttar Pradesh.

The new terminal can deal with 300 passengers throughout peak hours.

“The airport will assist in attracting extra followers of Buddhism to Kushinagar from house and overseas and can improve the event of Buddhist themed circuits.

“The travel of the Buddhist circuit to Lumbini, Bodh Gaya, Sarnath, Kushinagar, Shravasti, Rajgir, Sankisa and Vaishali will be completed in a short time,” the Civil Aviation Ministry mentioned in a launch on Monday.
