Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday visited five-time Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MLA and former Vidhan Sabha Speaker Sukhdev Rajbhar at his residence in Lucknow’s Gomti Nagar space.
In a setback to the BSP, Rajbhar, who represents Didarganj seat of Azamgarh district within the meeting, introduced his retirement from politics on July 31 and mentioned his son Kamalakant (Pappu) would comply with Akhilesh’s management.
Kamalakant, who was current on the assembly between the SP president and his father, instructed reporters, “My father is suffering from complications of Kovid since he got infected last year. Akhilesh ji’s visit was not political. He had come to check on my father’s health. We are grateful that he came all the way. “
Senior SP leaders mentioned the go to was important in view of Sukhdev Rajbhar’s stature in his neighborhood in Azamgarh. He mentioned, “This yatra sends a message to the Rajbhar community that Akhilesh ji is standing with them. We all know that the BSP has disappointed many of its senior leaders, and hence this visit will help the SP to transfer some of the BSP votes to the party in the next year’s elections,” mentioned a senior chief.
In a letter asserting his retirement from politics, 75-year-old Rajbhar had warned that the Bahujan motion was weakening.
