Gopichand’s daughter Gayatri and Trisa enhance India’s All England hopes
Gayatri Gopichand Pullela and Trisha Jolly have had contrasting lives. Gayatri’s father runs a state-of-the-art badminton academy in Hyderabad and is credited with producing a few of the nation’s most interesting shuttlers. Tresa’s father constructed a mud courtroom for her in Pulingom village in Kannur and transformed it right into a tarpaulin when it rained.
Despite their diversified journeys, on Friday Treesa, 19, and Gayatri, 20, beat Chinese Li Wei and Liu Xuan Xuan 21-14, 18-21, 21-12 to succeed in their second consecutive All-England semi-final.
