Anupam Kher says Bollywood is ‘promoting stars’ whereas South movie trade is telling ‘tales’

Actor Anupam Kher, who’s celebrating the success of Kartikeya 2, not too long ago shared his two cents on why South Indian movies are doing higher than Hindi movies. Kher Said that filmmakers within the South are specializing in telling tales, in contrast to Bollywood, which focuses extra on packaging a movie round a movie star.

Kher informed ETimes, “I guess I am not making a distinction between the two, but I think (their) cinema is relevant because they are not copying Hollywood. They are telling stories, here we are. The stars are selling.”

The Kashmir Files actor mentioned that films are primarily made for the viewers, and the second one begins wanting down on these customers, it’s a slippery slope. “You make things for the consumers. The problem starts when you start berating consumers by saying, ‘We’re doing you a favor by making a great film. Now you’re watching a great film.’ Greatness comes from collective effort and I have learned by doing films in Telugu, Tamil and I am going to do a Malayalam film.”

Anupam Kher’s upcoming movies embrace Sooraj Barjatya’s Uunchai, which additionally stars Amitabh Bachchan, Boman Irani and Parineeti Chopra. He can even be seen as Jayaprakash Narayan in Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency.
