‘Are you silly?’: Medvedev explodes at chair umpire at Australian Open

Daniil Medvedev has typically engaged with crowds at Melbourne Park in Australia however on Friday, the Russian misplaced his cool on the chair umpire calling him ‘silly’ throughout his semi-final match towards Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Claiming that Tsitsipas was receiving teaching from his father within the stands (which is towards the foundations), the 25-year-old exploded at umpire Jaume Campistol.

After one debatable level, a visibly enraged Medvedev sat down after which shouted on the umpire:

“His father can speak about each level. Are you silly?” Medvedev screamed.

“His father can speak about each level. Answer my query. Can his father speak about each level?

“Oh my God, how can you be so bad in the semifinal of a Grand Slam?” Medvedev raged.

“Look at me! I’m talking to you!”

“What do you want?” Campistol responded.

“To give him teaching [violation] as a result of his father is speaking each level,” Medvedev yelled.

He then referred to as the umpire a “small cat” on the finish of the outburst.

Medvedev’s actions drew sharp response on Twitter with followers calling for some degree of respect.

“Tennis actually wants to come back down arduous on gamers verbally abusing umpire, I’m a Medvedev stan however they should not need to cop abuse like that. Look at how Toby Greenes penalty for his encounter with an umpire and the way the AFL need extra respect for his or her refs,” wrote Shian on Twitter.

Medvedev at the moment received the third set towards Tsitsipas! 6-7 (5), 6-4, 4-6.
