Asia Mixed Team Badminton Championship: India enter semi-finals after spectacular comeback

India beat Hong Kong 3-2 to storm into the semi-finals of the Asia Mixed Team Badminton Championships on Friday.

The doubles pair of Dhruv Kapila and Chirag Shetty and PV Sindhu leveled the rating after reversing the primary two matches after trailing 0-2.

In the primary match of the tie, the blended doubles pair of Ishaan Bhatnagar and Tanisha Crasto gave Hong Kong a 1-0 lead earlier than dropping 24-26 17-21 in opposition to Lee Chun Hei Reginald and Tze Yau Ng.

World No. 11 and Commonwealth Games champion Lakshya Sen went down 22-20 19-21 18-21 to World No. 14 Long Angus Ng in a single hour and 10 minutes.

Men’s doubles pair of Kapila and Shetty staged a comeback to beat Tang Chun Man and Yung Shing Choi 20-22 21-16 21-11 in a hard-fought match.

In the ladies’s singles match, two-time Olympic medalist Sindhu needed to beat Saloni Sameerbhai Mehta 16-21 21-7 21-9 to degree the rating at 2-2.

In the decider, Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand gained the ladies’s doubles match by defeating Tse Yau Ng and Wing Yung Ng 21-13, 21-12.
