Boeing 737 cargo aircraft makes emergency touchdown in Honolulu waters

The US aviation security regulator stated two folks on board a Boeing 737 cargo aircraft made an emergency touchdown at sea off the coast of Honolulu, Hawaii, early Friday.

“The pilots reported an engine failure and were attempting to return to Honolulu when they were forced to land the aircraft in the water,” the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) stated in an announcement.

Boeing shares fell 2 %.

“According to preliminary information, both the crew members were rescued by the US Coast Guard.”

The plane was operated by Rhodes Express.

CNBC beforehand reported {that a} Boeing 737 had come down within the water.

Boeing was not instantly obtainable for remark.

Boeing’s 737 MAX was cleared to fly by regulators late final 12 months after a 20-month grounding following two crashes that killed a whole lot.
