Chandigarh: High courtroom grants anticipatory bail to the proprietor of the pharma firm within the unlawful sale of Remdesivir case

The Punjab and Haryana High Court has granted anticipatory bail to Paramjit Arora, and common bail to 5 others, who had been arrested in Chandigarh for the alleged unlawful sale of antiviral drug remdesivir.

While listening to the bail purposes of the accused, granting bail to Paramjit Arora and others, a bench of Justice Harnaresh Singh Gill noticed, “The petitioner is taking over the petition of alibi and additional, at one level of time, interim sanction was granted to him. Bail by Additional Sessions Judge, Chandigarh. Apart from this, the function of the petitioner is topic to investigation. Therefore, this courtroom is inclined to grant interim anticipatory bail to the petitioner.”

According to the prosecution, the accused had been arrested on a tip-off about an unlawful deal regarding Remdesivir at a lodge in Sector 17. Raids had been carried out and 6 individuals had been arrested. On investigation, a inventory of 3000 Remdesivir injections was present in Health Biotech Limited, Baddi. The MRP tag was being pasted by the suspects on the injection. Though Director, Gaurav Chawla claimed that he was approved to fabricate and export the drug, he failed to provide any related paperwork. The export of Remdesivir is banned from April 11. The accused had gathered from completely different locations to gather inventory in Chandigarh. A case was registered in PS 17 for forgery, dishonest, part 7 of the Essential Commodities Act and part 27 of the Drug and Cosmetic Act.

Advocate Kanika Ahuja, counsel for Paramjit Arora, submitted that his shopper has nothing to do with the arrested accused from Taj Hotel and from whose possession a letter has been recovered. Ahuja mentioned, the letter was in search of permission from the Himachal Pradesh authorities by Health Biotech (the petitioner’s firm) to produce Remdesivir Injection and Favipiravir Tablets within the home market. Mere restoration of the mentioned letter will not be a floor for presumption of offense below sections 420 and 120-B of IPC.

The 5 different accused who obtained bail on Tuesday had been KP Francis, 59, Philip Jacob, 47, Sushil Kumar, 38, Prabhat Tyagi, 48, Gaurav Chawla.
