The two principal events within the Kashmir Valley, the National Conference (NC) and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), have strongly opposed it. Draft suggestions of the Delimitation Commission, referred to as them “unacceptable”, and accused the panel of furthering the “political agenda” of the BJP.

Two different political gamers within the Valley, Sajjad Lone’s People’s Conference and Altaf Bukhari’s Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party, mentioned the draft suggestions “reck of bias” and “ignore” their calls for for illustration of the individuals.

Former chief minister and NC vice-president Omar Abdullah mentioned, “The draft recommendation of the Jammu and Kashmir Delimitation Commission is unacceptable.” Three NC MPs – Farooq Abdullah, Hasnain Masoodi and Mohammad Akbar Lone – have been among the many 5 affiliate members who met the delimitation fee on Monday.

“The distribution of newly created assembly constituencies with six going to Jammu and only one going to Kashmir is not fair as per the 2011 census data. It is extremely disappointing that the Commission has allowed the political agenda of the BJP to dictate its recommendations rather than the figures which it should have merely considered. Contrary to the promised scientific approach, it is a political approach,” mentioned Omar Abdullah.

Former Chief Minister and PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti posted on Twitter, “My apprehensions about the Delimitation Commission were not misplaced.”

“They want to pit people against each other by ignoring the population census and proposing 6 seats for one region and only one for Kashmir. This commission has been created only to serve the political interests of BJP by dividing the people on religious and regional lines. The real game plan is to set up a government in J&K that will legitimize the illegal and unconstitutional decisions of August 2019,” wrote Mufti.

Sajjad Lone mentioned the draft suggestions of the fee are “totally unacceptable”. “They are victims of prejudice. What a blow to those that consider in democracy, Lone posted on Twitter.

Altaf Bukhari mentioned that the draft suggestions can’t be justified as they don’t seem to be in sync with the 2011 census knowledge. “The commission in its report has ignored the merits and demands of representation of the people,” he mentioned.

“The present proposal is contrary to the procedure and guidelines mandated by the laws governing delimitation in the country. The district areas and their respective population numbers were to be taken into account as per the 2011 Census which, for some unknown reason, is missing from the report,” Bukhari mentioned.
