Congress MPs from Kerala ‘manhandled’ throughout march to Parliament towards Okay-rail mission, police deny

They were stopped by the staff at the barricades. They claimed to be MPs and continued shouting. They were asked to show their ID cards, which they denied. Meanwhile, staff from the security picket at Gate No 1 of Parliament were called to identify the MPs. The staff came and identified them, and they were then allowed to go forward.”

Meanwhile, elevating the problem in Lok Sabha, the MPs approached Speaker Om Birla for motion towards the police.

RSP MP NK Premachandran stated within the House it was a matter of privilege because the MPs had been “assaulted and attacked” by the police regardless of speaking to them that they had been members of Parliament and had been going to the Parliament House. “What’s the authority of the Delhi Police to dam us MPs on the gate of Parliament House? They even entered the premises of Parliament,” Premachandran stated.

Congress MP Okay Suresh stated, “Twelve of us had been strolling in protest towards the Okay-rail from Vijay Chowk to Parliament House. We had been protesting as a result of it’s a mission towards the pursuits of the folks of Kerala. But we had been assaulted, brutally attacked by the Delhi police.”

Rajya Sabha MP KC Venugopal tweeted a video of the incident, and known as it a “preposterous misuse of state power”.

In response, Speaker Birla known as the MPs into his chamber to hunt particulars on the incident.

According to the Kerala MPs, the Speaker instructed them he had summoned the Delhi Police commissioner and there could be an inquiry into the incident. He additionally instructed them they may give a privilege discover, the MPs stated.
