Coronavirus continues to be topmost fear of city Indians: Survey

Even as India is witnessing a decline within the variety of new infections, coronavirus has emerged as the highest concern amongst city Indians and international residents within the month of February, based on a month-to-month survey carried out by analysis agency Ipsos.

Unemployment continues to stay one of many high worries amongst city Indians, registering a two per cent improve in fear ranges compared to January information, as per the survey titled ‘what worries the world’.

Amit Adarkar, CEO, Ipsos India, stated: “Restrictions are easing, the common man is learning to live with the virus and job opportunities are also increasing. But let’s face it, the coronavirus has not gone away completely and so worry levels continue to stay. While elections are major events and it is important for commercial places to function, crowds should follow all safety measures to avoid infections from going up. Also, the job market needs to keep pace with the demand.”

While 33 per cent of world residents identified that Covid-19 was their high fear, 31 per cent stated it was poverty and social inequality, and 29 per cent voted for unemployment.

Among city Indians, 43 per cent cited coronavirus as their topmost fear, whereas 40 per cent stated unemployment and 28 per cent went with monetary and political corruption.

“Our survey highlights the macro issues by markets, of what perturbs the citizens to enable governments to prioritize them over others,” provides Adarkar.

On the opposite hand, the survey additionally asserts that India is the second most optimistic market (75 per cent), after Saudi Arabia (84 per cent). The survey mentions that it’s seeing a 4 per cent surge in optimization ranges in February over the earlier month.

“India is opening up and life is limping again to normalcy. This is rising the constructive outlook for the longer term,” states Adarkar.

The survey was carried out in 28 markets, amongst 19,022 netizens.
