Court sends suspended IPS officer to 3-day police custody

Suspended IPS officer GP Singh was dropped at Raipur on Wednesday, a day after he was tracked down and arrested by a staff of officers tenting in Delhi. He was produced in a classes courtroom, from the place he was remanded in police custody for 3 days.

Singh was absconding for practically six months after a case was registered on expenses of disproportionate property and sedition.

A 1994 batch IPS officer, he was earlier the Additional Director General of the Anti-Corruption Bureau and likewise served because the Inspector General of Raipur. Before being suspended on July 5, he was posted as the pinnacle of the Police Training Academy.

Police sources stated Singh went into hiding in Gurgaon after the High Court and later the Supreme Court quashed his arrest warrants towards him after his attraction for a keep of the probe and arrest warrants.

Singh was dropped at Raipur by street after the flight was canceled from Delhi on Wednesday. After medical examination and Kovid check, he was produced within the courtroom within the night.

While being taken to the courtroom, Singh instructed reporters that he was being falsely accused and the properties talked about within the FIR didn’t belong to him.

In a heated argument that lasted for practically an hour, the prosecution sought seven days’ custody, whereas the protection maintained that the FIR towards Singh was registered on fabricated data. Finally, a bench of Justice Leena Agarwal remanded the police to their two-day custody.

The ACB had raided 15 places linked to Singh from July 1 to three, during which many irregularities and disproportionate property have been discovered.

Singh is accused of finishing up a number of benami transactions and buying disproportionate property at 15 locations in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.
