Cremation ‘not allowed’, SC panel chief talks to Punjab DGP

National Commission for Scheduled Castes Chairman Vijay Sampla on Saturday spoke to the Punjab DGP and demanded strict motion in opposition to the villagers for not permitting the final rites of a Dalit farm laborer who was discovered useless on the Singhu border on Friday. .

“This is in opposition to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989. The villagers will not be permitting the final rites of the deceased. I’ve spoken to the DGP and requested him to take cognizance of the matter and take strict motion in opposition to the culprits.

The sufferer, a resident of Tarn Taran district, was focused by a bunch of Nihang Sikhs for allegedly desecrating the Guru Granth Sahib.

“I have heard stories about atrocities committed by Taliban and ISI, but such things will not happen in our country. They do now. It is heartbreaking,” Sampla stated.

Sampla had on Friday issued a discover to the DGP and Chief Secretary of Haryana asking them to submit a report on the Singhu border incident.
