South African all-rounder Dane van Niekerk has been dropped from the squad for the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup after she failed to attain the required time for the two km run.

“The Dane was given ample opportunity to meet the minimum criteria of the fitness benchmark,” selector Clinton du Preez was quoted as saying by the BBC.

“Many different gamers have gone down this route, everybody is kind of conscious of the scenario and what’s required. In December, we laid it down very clearly the place he must be.
