Four individuals had been arrested from Greater Noida for allegedly assaulting a person after befriending him on Grindr, a courting app for homosexual, bisexual and trans individuals. Police stated that the accused are serial criminals, they usually used to beat up individuals they used to satisfy and later file pornographic movies to extort them.
“We had received a complaint that a man had gone to meet someone on a dating app called Grindr. When the man reached, he was confronted by the four accused, who forced him to record the pornographic video. They used the records to blackmail the victims and also used to beat them up. The men demanded money in return. Through digital surveillance, we traced his location and he was arrested from his residence in Greater Noida,” stated Vishal Pandey, DCP 2.
According to the police, the accused Gaurav, Mohit, Sachin and Gautam had created faux profiles on Grindr. The accused used to provoke dialog and ask the boys to satisfy them at a non-public place. Police stated that when the particular person reaches, the accused will overpower him and beat them up and drive them to file obscene movies.
In the FIR lodged at Beta 2 police station, the person alleged that the accused had been demanding Rs 2 lakh, of which Rs 50,000 was transferred by UPI. The complainant alleged that the accused had threatened to leak his video if he didn’t pay.
Police stated one of many accused, Sachin, had earlier dedicated an identical crime with a Delhi-based engineer. In that case, Sachin had demanded Rs 1 crore for not importing his movies on-line. Police stated a grievance was registered and Sachin served his jail time period earlier than being launched on bail.
