Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday stated the Delhi authorities will practice 5,000 youth as “health assistants” within the coming weeks to organize for a potential third wave of Covid-19 infections within the metropolis.

“In the last few days, preparations are being made to save Delhi from a possible third wave of Kovid. I have visited many hospitals. We are setting up oxygen plant and also arranging for oxygen concentrator, cylinder and storage tank. But if the third wave comes – as we saw in the first and second wave – then we face shortage of medical and paramedical staff,” he stated at a press convention.

Keeping this in thoughts, the federal government has made a really bold plan to organize 5,000 well being assistants. In technical phrases, they’re referred to as ‘group nursing assistants’,” he stated.

Under the scheme, two weeks coaching might be given to five,000 youth by Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University.

“This training will be provided in nine premier medical institutes of Delhi. These people will work as assistants to doctors and nurses; They will not be able to make (medical) decisions on their own. They will be trained in basic nursing, paramedics, life saving, first aid and home care,” Kejriwal stated.

“They will be trained on basic things like how to measure oxygen and blood pressure, how to vaccinate, use of diapers, catheters and bedding. They will also be told how oxygen cylinders and concentrators work, how to administer oxygen, etc,” he stated.

Citing the instance of a Covid care centre, Kejriwal stated medical doctors would have the ability to work extra “efficiently” with the assistance of such well being assistants.

“They (health assistants) will be called to work when needed. They will be paid based on the number of days they work… there will be 500 people per batch. Anyone who is 18 years of age or above is eligible for the job, provided they have passed their class 12 exam,” Kejriwal stated.

Online functions for this might be accessible from June 17 and coaching will begin from June 28. Applications might be accepted on a primary come first served foundation.

“This will strengthen our efforts to counter the third wave, and supply us with further manpower if it hits. I pray that this doesn’t occur however there’s information from England, Britain that there’s a third wave. So now we have to maintain these developments in thoughts and be certain that there isn’t any slack in our efforts.”
