The nursing superintendent, in a letter to the medical superintendent, stated the round was “misinterpreted” and issued “in a positive sense for the comfort of patients and attendants”.
She additional added, “… however, if the sentiments of any employee are hurt by the use of the word Malayalam in the said circular, I am sorry/apologies for the same and assure you that I will do more in future. I will be careful and alert.”
The nursing superintendent claimed that he had obtained a grievance that employees members had been speaking of their regional languages, leaving sufferers “feeling helpless”, and the complainant had requested that Hindi and English be used as a substitute.
