New Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai are among the many prime 20 most polluted cities on the planet when it comes to PM2.5 ranges, in line with the State of Global Air’s newest report on air high quality and well being in cities. While New Delhi and Kolkata are ranked first and second respectively, Mumbai is ranked 14th within the listing.

The cities have been ranked on the idea of two main air pollution detected on this research – tremendous particulate matter (PM2.5) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2). PM2.5 is an atmospheric particle lower than 2.5 micrometers in diameter, which is about 3 p.c of the diameter of a human hair. This causes respiratory issues and reduces visibility.

According to the report, the best population-weighted annual common PM2.5 publicity in 2019 was Delhi at 110 μg/m3, adopted by Kolkata at 84 μg/m3.
