Delhi Police registers FIR towards JNU college students for coming into library, assaulting safety guards

Delhi Police registered an FIR towards a gaggle of JNU college students who allegedly ransacked the central library and assaulted safety guards on the campus.

Police stated a gaggle of 35-40 college students gathered outdoors the library which is closed for college students as a result of pandemic. He protested in entrance of the gate and requested the guard to open the library gate however the guard refused to take action. The incident occurred at round 10.40 am on Tuesday.

According to the FIR, the guard known as within the Quick Response Team to disperse the protesting college students and those that had been making an attempt to interrupt into the library.

“The students assaulted the security personnel and started thrashing the library gate with sticks. The glass of the gate was damaged… The security personnel resisted the attack and did not allow the students to enter through the three entrances. They (the students) then found a small gate, broke the glass panes and entered the library. The security personnel removed the students from the library,” reads the FIR.

Police stated the scholars continued to protest and assaulted safety personnel. They violated the COVID norms by protesting and likewise broken the library gates.

A case was registered towards unidentified individuals at Vasant Kunj police station beneath sections of Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, DDMA Act, Epidemic Diseases Act and IPC.

The college students posted in regards to the incident on Twitter and different social media saying that the administration has closed the library through the pandemic. He known as for the “immediate reopening” of the Central Library for college students.
