Filmmaker Vinay Shukla’s documentary While We Watch that includes information anchor Ravish Kumar has bagged an award on the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).

Other winners of the Amplify Voice Award embody Nisha Pahuja’s To Kill a Tiger and Martika Ramirez Escobar’s Leonor Will Never Die for Best Canadian Feature.
While We Watched is described as a tumultuous newsroom drama, it chronicles the working days of broadcast journalist Ravish Kumar as he navigates a spiraling world of reality and propaganda.
“Through the lens of its protagonist – a man held on to integrity even when everything falls apart – ‘While Hum Dekha’ urges viewers to consider their responsibility and guilty as the news and media investigate more than ever before.” Coming to the realm of the movie, Vinay’s upcoming movie delivers the promise of a daring, well timed and globally related documentary,” the official description learn.
Vinay Shukla’s debut movie An Insignificant Man, narrating the rise of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), was additionally screened on the prestigious movie pageant in 2016.

The filmmaker mentioned the journalists are “the foremost storytellers of our time”.
“I spent two years in Ravish’s newsroom, watching him make my every day broadcast. Ravish and his staff will get some tales proper, some tales nearly. Seeing him, I noticed that for each report we see on the information, the journalist behind the report pays a value – an emotional, monetary, ethical and psychological value.
“No story is easy, every story is personal. This film is about the personal cost that journalists pay for doing their job properly. My film will apply to any journalist who has stood up for his side. And have chosen to record a story that is true to their beliefs. This film is my love letter to journalism,” Shukla mentioned in a press release.
While We Watched is a UK manufacturing and is produced by Lono Studios and Britdock Films.
