Dravid given a break, set to sit down out tour of Zimbabwe, Laxman to teach

Rahul Dravid, India’s coach, has been given a break of some days and VVS Laxman will coach the Indian staff on their tour of Zimbabwe. Rahul’s assist workers members Vikram Rathour, the batting coach, and Paras Mhambrey, the bowling coach, too have been rested and Laxman may have the previous leg spinner Sairaj Bahutule and Hrishikesh Kanitkar as his deputies. Dravid will be part of the staff for the Asia Cup later this month.

The BCCI secretary Jay Shah confirmed the choice to The Indian Express. “VVS Laxman will be traveling with the Indian team to Zimbabwe. We have decided to give Rahul a few days’ break. As the Indian team for Asia Cup will be traveling on August 20, it would have been impossible for him to travel from Zimbabwe to Dubai. As a result Laxman will be the Indian team coach,” Shah advised this newspaper.

Laxman is the chief of National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. It’s not the primary time Laxman can be touring as coach with the Indian staff. He was on obligation throughout India’s tour of Ireland adopted by one T20 sport in opposition to England. The Indian staff can be taking part in three ODIs in Harare on August 18, 20 and 22.
