The BJP might have sprung a shock by fielding Union Minister of State SP Singh Baghel from Karhal in opposition to Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav. But that is the place the shock ends, as per voters of this Yadav bastion. “Local boy” Akhilesh, they are saying, is up for an enormous win. Karhal is situated simply 4 km from SP patron Mulayam Singh Yadav’s village Saifai which, with its broad roads, multi-specialty hospital and faculties, is a shining instance of what being a political titan’s house can imply.
SP flags are fluttering at Jain Inter College in Karhal, the place “Netaji” (as Mulayam known as) studied and briefly taught.
