The Biden administration has provisionally appointed senior Foreign Service officer Elizabeth Jones on the US Embassy in New Delhi as a cost d’affairs advert, an official announcement mentioned.
The State Department mentioned in an announcement on Monday that Jones, who till just lately was the coordinator of Afghan resettlement efforts, would quickly depart for New Delhi.
Jones has beforehand served as Assistant Secretary of State for Europe and Eurasia, Acting Assistant Secretary of State for the Near East, and Ambassador to Kazakhstan. She holds the best Foreign Service rank of Career Ambassador.
“In India, Ambassador Jones will join our embassy and consulate teams in advancing and enhancing the partnership between our governments and people, a partnership that Secretary Blinken has called the most consequential in the world,” the State Department mentioned.
