The ICC on Friday clarified that England have been fined eight World Test Championship penalty factors for sustaining a sluggish over-rate within the first Test towards Australia in Brisbane, as introduced earlier.

The International Cricket Council beforehand introduced that England have been fined 100 per cent of their match charges and 5 WTC factors for an over-rate offense in Brisbane final week.

“However, there is no point deduction limit for penalty overs and it shows that the actual number of penalty overs required for a team is less than the minimum requirement in accordance with clause 16.1.2 of the ICC Conditions of Play, hence they shall be awarded for each One point penalty is given.
