England one of many high contenders to win T20 World Cup: Moeen Ali

England’s stand-in captain Moeen Ali is assured that he can be one of many high contenders for the T20 World Cup and ultimately win the trophy in Australia.

“If you look at the last two matches of this series, you must win both, going to the World Cup is really important because the pressure to perform was huge,” Moeen mentioned after his win in Lahore.

“We are in a very good position going into the World Cup.”

Apart from England, Moeen feels that India and Australia would be the different two contenders.

“We are a very dangerous team to play with, and a lot of teams would be afraid to play us,” he mentioned.

England’s common T20 captain Jos Buttler didn’t play a match on the tour and continued his rehabilitation on an injured calf.

England ended their first tour of Pakistan in 17 years with a 67-run victory within the decider. David Malan (78 not out from 47 balls) scored his first half-century of the sequence and Harry Brooke scored an unbeaten 29-ball 46 as each benefited from three dropped catches in England’s sturdy whole of 209-3. Pakistan completed at 142-8.

On the opposite hand, Pakistan captain Babar Azam has blamed his poor fielding for this.

Babar mentioned, “Today our fielding was not good and when you drop important catches from the set batsmen, you are bound to struggle.”

“We couldn’t execute our plans on the field and all the credit goes to England,” he mentioned.
