The Trinamool Congress on Saturday fielded former Prasar Bharati CEO Jawahar Sarkar as its candidate for the Rajya Sabha seat vacated by former member Dinesh Trivedi.
The nomination of the retired bureaucrat, identified for his outspoken views towards the BJP-led central authorities, comes amid Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s try to play a nationwide function in politics.
