In an earlier dialog with indianexpress.com, Kapoor spoke about not casting a trans particular person for the position. “We went through many paths and thought of casting a trans person but you know I think everyone is just so fascinated by actors. Why is it that everything is legitimized by an actor? Why can’t a trans person write a film? Why can’t a trans person direct a film? First of all, this infatuation is wrong. Movies are not made by actors, they are made by filmmakers and writers. Ultimately, an individual is represented by the actor, but I try to look at it above as there is a story to be told,” he stated.
